AC/DC is the band everyone thinks is easy to cover and almost nobody covers well. I say that as someone who spent two tours singing Brad Delp's parts in BOSTON and who has been booking tribute acts through ProTributeBands since 2011. The riffs are simple. The feel isn't. A real AC/DC cover band has to lock a drummer and a rhythm guitarist into that dead-straight Malcolm Young groove for two hours, put a singer out front who can survive Brian Johnson's register without shredding his voice by the encore, and give the crowd an Angus who never stops moving. Then there's the show itself: the bell, the cannons, the schoolboy uniform, and the question of whether the band does the Bon Scott years or the Brian years or both. Here's how I ordered this list. Acts that play theaters, performing arts centers, casinos and festivals rank above bar bands, because that's the world my clients book in. Recent live footage counts more than a slick promo reel. A band that handles both eras convincingly gets extra credit, and so does one that carries real production. US-based acts come first because most of the people reading this are booking in the US, with the strongest UK acts at the end. The show is built as a trip through the whole catalog rather than a greatest-hits bar set, so you get the Bon Scott era and the Brian Johnson era in one night with the props to match. The Angus character is the strongest part of the footage I've watched, all sweat and stamina, and the band plays the songs at the original tempos instead of the sped-up versions a lot of tributes fall into. One housekeeping note so nobody books the wrong band: there's a separate Dirty Deeds USA out of Cleveland. The theater act is the one that bills itself as The AC/DC Experience. #3 - LIVE WIRE: The Ultimate AC/DC Experience LIVE WIRE comes out of North Tonawanda in western New York and has been a theater and festival act for years. They play home shows at the West Herr Riviera Theatre, headline fairs like the Orange County Fair in Middletown, New York, and route through the mid-Atlantic with dates such as the Tally Ho Theater in Leesburg, Virginia in September 2026 and The Oaks Theater in December 2025. Bike weeks are part of the calendar too, which tells you the band can handle an outdoor crowd that didn't necessarily come to see them. The production is the draw here: full lighting, the bell, the cannons, and a singer who does the Brian Johnson cap-and-sleeveless-shirt thing without turning it into a cartoon. Their channel has clean live videos of Thunderstruck, Back in Black and This House Is on Fire if you want to hear the vocal before you book. Don't confuse them with Live/Wire, the six-piece UK show of nearly the same name that tours British theaters. #4 - Back in Black (Dallas) Back in Black out of Dallas is the Texas AC/DC cover band buyers ask me about, and the reason is simple: they do both eras properly. The show is split so the Bon Scott songs get a Bon and the Brian Johnson songs get a Brian, which very few tributes bother with and which AC/DC fans notice immediately. They've played House of Blues rooms, they work the Dallas and Fort Worth market hard with a fall 2026 headline date already on sale, and there's plenty of recent footage from Beaumont and the Dallas shows to judge them by. Musically they're tight in the way a band that plays a lot of shows gets tight. The guitar tones are right, the drummer keeps it simple, and the crowd sings the whole time. If your event is in Texas or the surrounding states, this is the first call I'd make. #5 - Hell's Belles Hell's Belles is the original all-female AC/DC tribute. They formed in Seattle in 2000, they have their own Wikipedia entry, and they're still touring with 2026 and 2027 dates on sale, including West Coast rooms like Harlow's in Sacramento. KING 5 in Seattle ran a feature on them in 2024 about the band still shaking rooms after two decades, which is not something most tribute acts can say. The pitch isn't the novelty. The pitch is that the guitar player attacks the Angus parts as hard as anyone on this list and the singer has the rasp for Highway to Hell and If You Want Blood without faking it. A 2025 live set shot in 4K is up if you want to hear how the vocals hold up over a full show. For a festival or a casino that wants an AC/DC show with a story attached, they're an easy sell. #6 - Noise Pollution Noise Pollution is San Diego's AC/DC tribute and they travel more than most West Coast acts. House of Blues San Diego has them back on September 12, 2026, they've played the Paramount in Bristol, Tennessee, CB Live in Phoenix, a New Year's Eve show at Spirit Lake Casino in North Dakota, and a January 2026 date at the Lincoln Square Theatre in Decatur, Illinois. That's a band that's willing to get on a plane. The footage is club and festival stage rather than pro-shot theater, but it shows what matters: an Angus in full uniform who plays the solos note for note, a Brian-era singer with the cap and the grit, and a rhythm section that doesn't rush. They also have a full-show video up from that casino New Year's set, which is the most honest way to audition a tribute band. #7 - Who Made Who Who Made Who formed in 2005 and bills itself as Canada's ultimate AC/DC tribute, with thousands of shows behind them and a footprint that reaches into US theaters. They've played the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, Illinois, and their own footage of If You Want Blood is the kind of thing I send buyers when they ask what a top-tier AC/DC show looks like: five players, a wall of Marshall cabinets, the branded backdrop, and a singer who moves like Brian. The band leans on the Brian Johnson years and plays them with a lot of power. They also carry their own production, which matters if your venue doesn't have a big lighting rig. Housekeeping note: there's an unrelated Who Made Who based in Taunton, Massachusetts that works the New England club circuit under the same name. #8 - Bonfire (Chicago) Bonfire is Chicagoland's AC/DC tribute and they lean all the way into the spectacle: a bagpiper for It's a Long Way to the Top, a Hells Bell, an inflatable Rosie and cannons for the finale. They celebrated their 25th anniversary in January 2025, which makes them one of the longest-running acts on this page, and they play Midwest theaters like the Memorial Opera House in Valparaiso along with the summer festival circuit in Indiana. The videos are mostly fan-shot, but the Hells Bells clip on their own channel shows the bell and the crowd, and that's really the point of this band. Book them when the client wants the full AC/DC carnival rather than a straight concert recreation. The singer handles Brian's material with a lower, throatier take than most, which I actually prefer to the guys who try to scream it. For a corporate crowd or a fair that wants something with a hook, an all-female AC/DC show is a very easy thing to sell. #10 - Shoot To Thrill Shoot To Thrill is the all-female AC/DC tribute out of Raleigh, North Carolina, and they tour the East Coast properly: The Ritz in Raleigh on August 14, 2026 through Ticketmaster, a Wilmington show in October, the Blue Gate Performing Arts Center in Indiana in 2025, and civic auditorium dates as far west as La Porte. Kara sings, Susan plays the Angus role and Emily holds down bass, and the footage from a 2025 show tells you the band has settled into a groove. Kara's voice is the reason they're on this list. She doesn't imitate Brian Johnson so much as find her own way into the same notes, and it works on T.N.T. and Back in Black alike. Be aware that a Portland, Oregon band and a Midwest band also perform as Shoot to Thrill. The Raleigh act is the one that tours. #11 - Back N Black (Atlanta) Back N Black is the Atlanta AC/DC tribute, spelled with an N so you can tell them apart from the Dallas band at #4. Their promo was filmed live at MadLife Stage and Studios in Woodstock, Georgia, and it's a good look at the band: a proper Angus in the red uniform, a Brian who wears the cap, and a big sound for a five-piece. They keep a steady calendar of Georgia and Southeast dates, including an August 2026 headline. This is a strong regional act rather than a national tourer, which is why they sit here and not higher. For events in Georgia, the Carolinas, Tennessee or Alabama, they're the sensible pick and the price will reflect the shorter drive. #12 - Angus Khan Angus Khan is the Iowa AC/DC show, based in La Porte City and billed as America's Ultimate AC/DC Tribute. They headlined the Camelot Theater in Nevada, Iowa in May 2025, they've played the Talent Factory, and they work the upper Midwest theater and festival circuit. The name is a joke and the band is not: the live footage of Let Me Put My Love Into You on their channel shows a heavy, well-rehearsed group that plays the deep cuts as well as the hits. They sit at #12 rather than higher because the acts above them have more theater dates and more recent pro footage, not because there's anything wrong with the band. If you're booking in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska or Wisconsin, they're the local answer. #13 - Dirty DC Dirty DC is the UK's best-known AC/DC tribute and the first of two British acts I'm including for readers booking overseas. They stay busy: Chester Live Rooms in July 2025, Edmiston House in Glasgow in October 2025, London in February 2026, and regular dates at rooms like The Brook in Southampton. The Glasgow footage shows a full house with its hands in the air, which is the only review that counts. They do both eras and they play them loud and no-nonsense, without the props the American theater acts carry. The singer is the standout, with a Bon Scott sneer that most US tributes skip entirely. Their promo video is built from real stage footage under their own video wall, and it's a good indicator of the show: full band, lights, a singer who covers Brian's songs with the right grit. They sit below Dirty DC because they play fewer big rooms, but for a corporate event or a festival in the north of England they're a solid, professional choice. Ask which era the band covers and whether they bring their own bell, cannons and lights, because those two answers change the price and the stage plot more than anything else. Ask for a full-show video, not a promo reel.
