U2 is a hard band to tribute. The Edge’s guitar parts are mostly delay and restraint, which means the tone has to be exact or the whole thing turns to mush, and Bono’s voice moved from a post-punk yelp in 1980 to a full arena tenor by the time of The Joshua Tree. A band that only nails one era isn’t really a U2 tribute. The fourteen acts below can carry a full night of it, from Boy through Songs of Experience, and most of them are working real theaters and festivals right now.
I sang lead in BOSTON on two North American tours and I’ve run ProTributeBands since 2011, so I listen to these bands the way a musician does: can the singer hold Where the Streets Have No Name at the end of a two-hour set, does the guitarist actually understand a dotted-eighth delay, and is the rhythm section locked in on Sunday Bloody Sunday? Looks and costumes come after that.
Here’s how I ordered them. Touring activity counts most, because a band with a full 2026 calendar is a band venues keep rebooking. Then the strength of the current footage, then how honestly the singer handles Bono, then reach. #1 – Hollywood U2
Los Angeles. Frontman Joe Hier is the only U2 tribute singer who has actually sung with U2: Bono pulled him on stage during the 2015 Innocence + Experience tour to duet on The Sweetest Thing, and the Wall Street Journal put that moment at number two on its list of must-watch performances from the tour, above Bruce Springsteen and Lady Gaga. Bono later told KROQ that Hier “was the split of me.” The Edge said he knew the song better than the band did.
That’s the headline. What keeps them at the top for me is the show itself: Hollywood U2 builds a set around a specific tour, so you can book a Zoo TV night with the Fly and MacPhisto personas, or a Joshua Tree 30 show, or a multi-era hits set. They were the only U2 act on AXS TV’s The World’s Greatest Tribute Bands and the first band the show ever invited back. They won the 2016 Hollywood FAME Award for Outstanding U2 Tribute, and Amy Adams hired them for a private party. The clip above is Landlady at The Canyon in Agoura Hills, a deep cut most tributes wouldn’t attempt, and Hier’s phrasing on it is spooky.

#2 – Unforgettable Fire
New York. Unforgettable Fire started on New Year’s Day 1995, which makes them one of the very first U2 tributes in America and, more than thirty years on, the longest running. In 2015 The Edge and Adam Clayton crashed their show at The Cutting Room in Manhattan and played Out of Control and Where the Streets Have No Name with them. Rolling Stone covered it. Six years later the band was a Jeopardy! clue in a Tribute Bands category with Anderson Cooper hosting, and that October they won their episode of Clash of the Cover Bands on E!, the Jimmy Fallon-produced series with Adam Lambert and Meghan Trainor judging.
Anthony Russo sings Bono, Mick Normoyle plays The Edge, George Levesanos is on drums and Craig Kiell on bass. The set runs from pre-Boy material to Songs of Experience, and they treat wardrobe and lighting as part of the arrangement. Their fall 2026 run is a good picture of the band’s market: Jersey City, the Great Irish Fair in Brooklyn, Tupelo Music Hall in New Hampshire, the Broad Brook Opera House in Connecticut, and Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls. I Will Follow, above, is the song I’d use to judge any U2 tribute’s rhythm section, and theirs passes.

#3 – L.A.vation, The World’s Greatest Tribute to U2
Los Angeles. The name is a play on Elevation, and the passport is the story. L.A.vation has played England, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Iceland and Kosovo, then Dubai, Kuwait, Lebanon and Egypt, then most of the Caribbean, plus Afghanistan on Armed Forces tours. Corporate clients include Facebook, BMW, NAMM and a USO tour with Robert Irvine and Lou Holtz. I don’t know another U2 tribute with that kind of travel history.
Guitarist Bart Davis is a Musicians Institute grad who has been playing professionally since 1990, and he and Dutch drummer Jorgen Ingmar have been doing U2 together since a NATO troop tour through the Balkans in 2000. Patrick Boudreaux sings Bono. What I like about Bart is that he doesn’t over-play; The Edge’s parts are about what you leave out, and this band gets that.

#4 – The Joshua Tree
Boston. This is the New England U2 tribute, and the band makes a point of not doing impersonations. No Bono wig, no costume changes. They play the catalog with the same intensity as the records and let the songs do the work, which, if your singer is good enough, is the braver choice. A fan who’d seen every U2 show in the region for ten years told them the Newport Blues Cafe set “completely floored” him, and the Feast committee in New Bedford said they’d never seen the festival crowd get pulled into a performance like that.
They work the Northeast club and theater circuit steadily: Jonathan’s in Ogunquit brought them back by popular demand in late 2025, and the Rex Theatre has them on its calendar. The clip above is Where The Streets Have No Name from an outdoor show in summer 2025, with the crowd already on its feet before the guitar intro finishes.

#5 – ONE, A Tribute to U2
Ohio. ONE has been at it since 2005 and has played the House of Blues, Hard Rock Cafe, a Cleveland ballgame at Progressive Field and a long list of casinos. Chris “Bono” Stafford sings, Rick “Edge” Friedline plays guitar, Dave “Adam” Huthmacher is on bass and Bob “Larry” Devereaux on drums, and the nicknames tell you how seriously they take the roles. They carry their own sound, lights and video, which matters more than buyers think when the venue is a festival stage with a house system built for a country act.
The same four also run Grunge-N-Glam, an 80s hair metal and 90s grunge show, so a buyer can book ONE as a headliner or pair the two bands for a full night. The promo above shows the band at a theater with the full rig, and the Beautiful Day on it is what a working Midwest U2 tribute should sound like.

#6 – Without U2
Chicago. Without U2 bills itself as America’s best U2 tribute act and backs it with a calendar: Long Grove Irish Days on September 5, a U2charist service at a Buffalo Grove church the next night, Firewater Saloon in Edison Park on the 18th and the Hobart Art Theater on Halloween. That mix of festival, church, club and theater in one month is exactly the kind of range a regional tribute needs to survive.
Booking agent Josh Niemiera of Double D Booking says they’re at the top of his list whenever a client asks for a tribute, and LaSalle State Bank hired them for its 125th anniversary. Matt on guitar and Chris on vocals are the pair to watch; a live New Year’s Day of theirs from 2024 has Matt’s delay parts sitting exactly where they should. #7 – Rattle And Hum
Charlotte, North Carolina. Rattle And Hum has been the Carolinas’ U2 tribute for well over a decade, playing the Boatyard and the festival and concert-hall circuit around Charlotte. The full-length demo above is a straight run through Where The Streets Have No Name, Sunday Bloody Sunday and With Or Without You with no studio trickery, which is the honest way to show a buyer what a band does.
What I hear in it is a guitarist who has the Streets intro delay dialed in, and a singer who stays inside his range instead of shouting for the high notes. Their May 2026 Boatyard date was billed locally as the region’s premier U2 tribute, and I wouldn’t argue.

#8 – Wide Awake, A U2 Experience
Northeast. Wide Awake is the fastest-rising act on this page. In the last year they’ve played the Marilyn Rodman Performing Arts Center in Foxboro, Seneca Niagara Resort and Casino, the Glove Theatre in upstate New York and rooms around Cleveland, and the band’s “Through the Years” show is closer to a theater piece than a bar set: narrated storytelling, video cues and costume changes that walk the audience from Boy in 1980 to No Line on the Horizon in 2009.
Alex DeBiase sings Bono, Dan Staversky plays The Edge, Dan Hullihen is on bass, Jeff Welch on drums, and Brian Ritchie covers the Brian Eno keyboard textures, which is a fifth member most U2 tributes skip and the reason their Unforgettable Fire material sounds right. A Dubliner who’d seen every U2 tour since 1987 wrote that their Wild Horses was better than any version he’d heard the real band play. With or Without You, above, shows the harmonies.

#9 – Desire, The International U2 Tribute
Hamilton, Ontario. Desire has been headlining festivals across Canada and the US for more than twelve years, and the members have been friends since high school, which is how U2 started too. The fall 2026 calendar is the busiest of any band on this list: the Capital Centre in North Bay on a double bill with a Coldplay tribute, the Sullivan Rotary Corn Festival in Indiana, Overflow Brewing in Ottawa, Great Blue Heron Casino in Port Perry and Cleveland Oktoberfest, with Ticketmaster dates running into 2027.
The clip above is Where the Streets Have No Name on CHCH Morning Live in Hamilton. Morning television is a brutal place to sing Bono, no crowd and no sound check to speak of, and the singer gets through it clean.

#10 – Elevation, The International U2 Tribute Show
Toronto. Elevation is celebrating its 24th anniversary at the El Mocambo this September with an all-80s U2 night hosted by Erica Ehm, and that’s the thing to know about them: they do whole-album shows. They’ve performed Achtung Baby front to back and The Joshua Tree front to back, and a band that can play Zoo Station and Acrobat live has done more homework than one that stops at the greatest hits.
The Bermuda Sun called them the world’s most successful U2 tribute show, the Vancouver Province ran “even better than the real thing,” and they’ve played the Hard Rock in Las Vegas and Mont-Tremblant in Quebec. The One above is a live version from 2024, and the singer’s control on the verses is why I’d put them in a listening room as happily as a festival.

#11 – Acrobat, The U2 Tribute
Toronto. Acrobat is the other big Canadian U2 show, and they have a story to match Hollywood U2’s: on July 6, 2015, they performed Desire with U2 at the Air Canada Centre. The band’s own video of it is still up. Since then they’ve played Turning Stone Resort Casino, the Cohoes Music Hall in New York, the Nakota Strong festival in Edmonton and theaters from Nova Scotia to British Columbia, and the fall 2026 dates include Midland, Ontario and a U2-plus-Bon Jovi night in Parry Sound.
The production is the draw here: authentic costuming, multimedia, and a guitarist named Martin whom the band, fairly, describes as their Edge. The promo above gives you the look and the sound in under three minutes.

#12 – The U2xPERIENCE
Southern California. Jason James has been singing Bono for more than twenty years, from the US and Mexico to Central and South America and Europe, including shows for troops in Afghanistan, and he’s one of the few tribute singers I’d call a genuine tenor rather than a good impression. Carl Macchia, a UMass music theory guy who came up through the New York club and studio scene, plays The Edge and has performed U2’s music with the Columbus Symphony and the Buffalo Philharmonic.
The band was featured on Mark Cuban’s AXS TV series The World’s Greatest Tribute Bands, and their 2026 dates are Orange County rooms like the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano and the Garden Amp in Garden Grove, sometimes paired with a Coldplay tribute. They also offer a Bono and Edge acoustic duo for smaller events. The clip above was shot on a Los Angeles rooftop near where U2 filmed the Streets video.

#13 – Pride, In the Name of U2
Dallas and Houston. Pride is Texas’s U2 tribute, fronted by Jeff Bernstein, a New Yorker from a family of cantors on both sides, with Brad Avants on guitar, Jerko Dabelić on bass and Will Cruse on drums. They’ve played the Granada Theater in Dallas and get filmed by the City of Allen for its public broadcast, which is where the clip above comes from. This fall they’re at Harvest Hall in Grapevine, the Grand Prairie Main Street Fest and the Revel in Frisco.
Bernstein leans into the message side of U2, the One and Sunday Bloody Sunday side, and the band does a lot of charity work around it. If you’re booking in Texas, this is the act I’d start with.

#14 – UZoo, The Unforgettable U2 Tribute Band
Nashville. UZoo has played the Hard Rock in Punta Cana, where the venue’s booker said he couldn’t wait to have them back, and Hard Rock Cafe Chicago, where the Irish American News wrote that their live versions of Bad and Sunday Bloody Sunday were “down cold.” The set reaches past the 80s into Get On Your Boots and Magnificent, which a lot of tributes ignore. The footage above is older than most on this list, and that’s why they sit at the bottom; the playing on it is not.

Booking a U2 Tribute for Your Event
Two things decide whether a U2 night works. The first is the singer’s stamina, because Bono’s set sits at the top of a tenor’s range for two hours and the last three songs are the biggest. Ask for full-show footage, not a promo reel. The second is production: The Edge’s sound needs a guitarist with the right delays and a sound engineer who knows what to do with them, so a band that carries its own tech is worth the extra line on the invoice.
